? for an up and coming nursing student how many hours a week do you guys study and how many of you have families to take care of also??
I am not in clinicals yet, I am doing pre req's right now, (Biology and Nurse Aide Training -which is will end with coupl clinicals).. and I try to spend at least an hour a night. Sometimes I slack and cram a couple hours into one night, or a bunch of hours over the weekend. I work full time, have a 3rd grader, and was recently remarried! So I have so many distractions, it is hard sometimes to be disciplined in my study habits! I am doing really well though with my grades! I better find some wood to knock on...quick! :rotfl:

Well, I try to study at least 2 hours a day per subject. I have a husband , 3 daughters ages: 9 , 6 , and 2 + an affectionate cat to take care of.

I had to laugh when I hit on this, oh how many times I am here instead of in the books (whew, I am glad its Friday!) Typically I need to study at least 12 hrs a wk (2-4 hrs a class), but average 24. Often I procrastinate, then drive my family crazy w/last min studying and h/w assignments. I hate that! i can't do that once I am in Nursing school! I figure I have worked too hard to NOT study then, b/c if I fail, I only have myself to blame! (OK, guilt trip over!) :chuckle
OK, I laugh b/c I went to "The Vagina Monologues" last FEB (they r coming again son to a campus near u!). This one actress was on stage and cracked us all up w/her different versions of the female orgasm. IE: the Christian woman, the Jewish woman, the Prostitute,
the College STUDENT. "oh... that's nice, oh yeah... oh we should stop.. oh, I should be studying, oh,oh, no stop; I should be studying.. ok go on. No, we should stop, I need to study. Oh OH OH I SHOULD BE STUDYING!"
Now Get back to studying!

I study A LOT. Probably try to get at LEAST an hour in everyday, but hopefully more especially if I have a lot to do. Today I didn't have a lot to do, so probably spent an hour finishing up some essays and that's it. Although tomorrow I'm going to the library, and will stay for 2 hours.
I do have a family to take care of. My youngest starts daycare on Monday and my oldest is in pre-K, so from now on I'll be able to study for a few hours at the library during the weekdays while they are there.
THere were some days last semester though, where I felt like I was studying ALL DAY LONG!

Yup, I have a chemistry exam tomorrow morning at 9. I've studied a little bit this afternoon and I'll need to study more after dinner. I think as long as I don't have a brain cramp when I get in there, I'll be fine.
