How many NURSING classes are "normal" to take in a quarter semester program?

Hello all!!! =]

I am attending UMET a bilingual University in Puerto Rico for nursing school and they are set up in what the call "PT". They work in quarter semester so they each last about 8 weeks.

Now, when I went to register for classes on Thursday, they director gave me two nursing classes to take from August-September with a gen, ed class of Comp. and from October-December she gave me one class with a lab (Nursing Fundamentals). She said after the 8 weeks in this course we will be able to go to the hospital.

I just want to know if this seems like its not much? Maybe I'm so used to semester and taking 12 credits. Can someone please help! =]

I feel like I should be taking more classes per quarter semester but then again its only 8 weeks.

jen-jen, how do i register for classes, do i have to go back to dr fruge?

also, how long did it take you to finish the program?

also, forgot to ask is it possible to finish in 2 years? what about a year and a half?

I don't know in Puerto Rico but at Turabo in Orlando the nursing program runs in blocks so you have already the amount of classes you will be having through the five semesters the program lasts. Once you start the nursing program, it'll take you the 5 semesters. Which is 1.5 years. To that you have to add the time you take to complete your pre-reqs. Hope this helps.

Yea F can do the registration for you. I did mine in two years but I only had 1 pre req to complete. I suggest at first taking as many classes as you can I've taken up to 21 credits a semester (13 a block with one class in Spanish lasting a full 12 weeks)

jen_jen, I have heard that bayamon is not a safe city to live in,

but I dont think I can afford to buy a car at least when i get there, what is

your experience with bayamon and if i dont live there, where else would you recommend

living without a car? did you have a car? where did you live at first?

Well I lived in cayey with my grandma for a yr which is about an hr away. I bought a car because I sold mine. Then my grandmother moved to fl so I rented a room from my bf family friend which was in a gated neighborhood. Honestly its dangerous all over. Its such a small island that crime can happen whenever wherever.

Regardless of where you are in PR you have to have a car. Public transportation is horrible.

adorno even if it is horrible, at the moment the reality is that we cannot

afford to buy a car and my car is too old to ship to pr. So for now,

we will have to deal with not having a car, maybe after the xmas break we can

afford one. What is the average price for a car?

I didn't say you need to go out and but a car right now. I was just pointing out how bad the transportation system is. I

moved over 10 years ago so I couldn't tell you how the market is right now. I can tell you that cars in PR are a lot more that here in US because of taxes. Good luck.
