How many months it will take to get a permanent RN license through endorsement?

Published

Hi friends:

In California, how many months it will take to get a permanent RN license through endorsement? Anyone has experience to tell? Thanks!

California is what we call a walk-thru state, you can actually get a temporary license very quickly.

But that is if you have a Social Security Number, without that, California will not issue you the license.

I applied online and mailed in fingerprint cards, picture, and got my college to send transcripts. From the day I applied it took 1 month to get a temporary license. Has been 2 months now and am still waiting on permanent one. The temp license is good for 6 months........One can walk thru, but the travel company I am thinking of using will not guarantee you a job without the license already.

Many travel companies will allow you to do a walk thru................perhaps you need to look for another agency. :)

how long does it take to receive your temp and/ permanent liscence when you do the walk thru? I am a Canadian nurse and I don't have a social security number. What is the quickest way for me to get endorsement?

Hello,

I am currently here in upstate New York I'm almost done with my associates in Registered Nursing. I am due to graudte this coming May and I plan to take the NCLEX-RN exam soon after graduation. I will be forwarding my application to get my license here in the state of NY but by the end of the year I will be going back to California ( I'm here because of my husband's job). My question is besides my nursing school transcript, do I still need to send my HS transcript and other college transcipt that I have attended in order to get my license endorsed to California? Prior to entering the RN program here in NY, I have attended one year of college in the Philippines and some of my classes got transferred (like Microbiology and Psych 101). I am asking this because it's such pain to request transcipts in the Philippines. Your reply is much appreciated.

hey mye,

you will need to send in any college/university transcripts that have nursing courses that helped you achieve your diploma. So if you went to 3 different schools and any of those courses helped you get your nursing diploma, then you have to send transcripts from each of those schools. You do not need to send your highschool transcript.

i am also looking forward to find how many months does it take for the permanent licensure through endorsement. but it looks like the original question never got it answers. thanks for help

It takes approximately two months on average, but you do not need a permanent license to begin working, just the temporary is fine.

I actually went to Sacremento on Friday, and began my job on Monday.......

Hi Suzanne,

I applied for temp license on July 16th 2005. I called BON(CA) on August 1st, they say they have not received my application. I am kinda frustrated. Will I wait for 2 more weeks or go to Sacramento directly to the office and see whats going on.

Will appreciate your advice, Thanks

I always recommend going to Sacramento in person to get the temporary license, you get it that day................their is only BON office for the entire state. Much easier this way. If you are there by 9 am , you can be out with the temporary in your hand by about 2 pm. If you have not worked in a state that used Nursys, you will have to have Michigan send in the verification before they will issue you the temporary. If on Nursys, you just have to pay the $30 fee and you are set.
