How many men in your cohort?

Nursing Students Male Students

Published

We had Nursing orientation today and I had my first opportunity to meet my fellow students. It turns out there are only 3 men including me in our class of 45. How many men are in your cohort?

We started with 12 out of 60. Now we're at 11 out of 50. The professors / faculty told us that our cohort is an anomaly and unique in that sense. We've picked up some other students from cohorts ahead of us that got held back for various reasons. Most of them say they like our cohort more because there's more guys.

I'll get crapped on this for saying this, but I've had faculty, preceptors, fellow students, and working nurses tell me that the testosterone really helps even out some of the clique'iness in some of the female dominated groups.

we started out with 40 students total and 5 guys. Depending on how the final ends up it could just be me and 30ish students.

No I've had similar comments made to me. The super ironic thing is my clinical site is also where I work. So I know the staff and maybe it's just my hospital but in general a lot more females then males. The women make plenty of jokes on this, usually relating too much estorgene or something.
