I start A&P in the fall and I was curious about how many hours you typically spent studying and what grade you got. I know everyone is different but I am just wanting the average. Thanks.
I definitely didn't study as much as I should, but I did invest in a great boxed set of colored, illustrated flash cards. I think they were about $29.95 and worth every penny- even better than the coloring books.
It was much easier than lugging around my 40 pound book. I could stick a few in my bag and go, and I found that they were perfect to put on the tray on the treadmill and review them as I walk/ran.
I usually studied the week before the test and I would take a weekend day off from work and use the day to study and the day of the test since my class wasnt until in the evening and maybe a few hours during the week if you count labs. I got an A. Test were easy until the last one with the nerves, brain, eye, ear, etc. If you study hard you can get an A. If I can do it you can do it. Good luck! Oh I know labs probably dont count as much as lecture does (at my school it is 25% of your grade) but it helped me to go to other schools website to study their models and do their quizzes those helped me a lot for the lab test, especially the histology lab.
I spent between 3-10 hours a week and got a A-, so not bad, but now that Im in the nursing program, I wish I would have gone the extra mile and memorized more. I am now constantly going back and reviewing, which slows down my current homework. Plan on it being a pretty consuming class, every teacher is different, but you do have to take in a lot regardless. Good luck!
In my area, A&P is split up so you spend one semester on Anatomy and one on Phsyiology. I am taking a 7.5 week summer course for Physiology right now and at this point have an A. Compared to Microbiology (which I took with a difficult instructor) Physiology has felt like a walk in the park. I spend probably 1-2 hours reading each chapter and then following along during the lecture with the notes provided by the prof. For the past two tests I have spent maybe 2-3 hours studying beforehand and got a 95% & 98%. I wouldn't say that the professor is too easy, as the class average is about 75%, but she certainly does a better job of explaining the material and emphasizing what she wants you to know. I felt like my mircobiology class was mostly self-taught. The teacher makes all the difference!!!
I spent a few hours before our exams in A&P 1, got an A. But I think it helped a bunch that I took biomedical terminology and a type of survey class of A&P. It was an overview of both A&Ps. I thought the teacher in that class didn't teach much but found out quickly that I remembered a lot. Worried about who to take for part 2 and micro. I really heard it's who you get in these prerequisites. I ask around a lot. One teacher can make or break your GPA bad. If we get a C in any of the prereqs we are told to just take it over again. That's why I am only taking 2 classes at a time. I need A's only.
But I think i might have been lost if I didn't take those classes first. I would have had to study everyday.

Back2thebooks...WOW 101% that's impressive. You deserved it.
I'm planning on taking A&P I in the fall. My adviser told me that it was a minimal of 15 hours a week homework/study time to pull off an C. Good luck.
