Hi everyone. I posted a few weeks ago that I had gotten a great new job with an orthopedic surgeon as his office nurse. This job is going to be a great opportunity. One problem though, the office we will be in is being renovated. It was supposed to be done next week, but of course, the contractor fell behind schedule :angryfire . Now we're hearing that the office won't be ready until the week before Thanksgiving at the earliest. I was hired 3 weeks ago and now will have to wait another 3 weeks to start. I have been out of work for a few months trying to find the right job, and honestly money is pretty tight at our house. My question is,am I crazy to wait for this job? I know that it will be great when I start, I'm just really worried we will be in the poor house before I start. Would any of you wait this long to start a new job? I really want this job and I just want to make sure I'm not being unfair to my family by waiting. Just really looking for some words of encouragement, or someone to tell me to stop dreaming. Thanks in advance.

What if you work for an agency till the renovations are complete?
After you can start the office job, just use the agency hours once a month or so for a little extra money.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I have thought about that. The biggest problem is that I live in a small town and any agency job that I get would have me traveling at least 1-2 hours. I don't really won't to do that for such a short term. Also, I have 2 boys and my husband works out of town, only comes home on weekends so a lot of prn work doesn't work for me because most want you to come in on nights.

:) It sounds like a great job! I would go ahead and wait for it even though it is very inconvenient right now.

Considering your situation w/ your DH and kids, i would stick it out and wait a little while longer. I feel your pain as i have kids too and its hard to work nights. {{{hugs}}}
Best of luck,

I would wait too...
You already have the job, so it is just a matter of time (precious time and money, I know). Do whatever you have to, work part time anywhere for a few bucks. If this is your dream job, and it is only a few weeks away, you can ride it out. Good luck!
