3-4 weeks is what they said on the BVNPT website. I took mine on August 10th and got my results on September 22. So what's that? almost 6 weeks?!?!?! They blame it on the Furloughs and what not....ONce you do get results you can drive up there and pay the fee, and they will give you temp license that will allow you to work. That's what I am doing while waiting for my official license. Good luck on your results!, and remember to be patient, because it is going to be awhile....
If you're anxious to know your results. Log into your pearsonvue account and try to reregister for the exam. It's called the pearsonvue trick. Which many have confirmed that it does work. It worked for me, and all of my classmates. Make sure that the message on the side of the page says something like "status delivery successful. Then try to reregister for the exam. If you're taken to the credit card page then you've failed the exam. If you're prevented from getting to the credit card page and receive a pop up stating "Our records indicated you've recently scheduled for this exam, please contact your board of nursing..." then you've passed. Then all you have to do is wait for your results.
I tested in late June and received my results within 4 weeks. From the time I received my "official" results, and the time that I received my license in the mail was about 2 weeks, which still isn't long. Nobody is giving anybody false hope. It's still like this because I know a person who received her "official" results last week and she has her name is already on the BVNPT. Just keep checking the BVNPT website, you will see your name soon.
As Silverdragon stated, pearsonvue truck is more for peace of mind, because we still must wait for our official results in California. Try the pearsonvue trick so you can have peace of mind until you get your official results in. GOOD LUCK!
Hmmm. late june? my friends that took it in late june also got their results in 4 weeks, after that though they have been ALOT slower. I have friends who took it in late august who still have no results! For instance when I called the board on September 8th they said they were were working on August 8th testers, and they say they work on a test date a day, and that they would be working on mine September 10th, and I took mine on August 10th, if that makes sense. Anyways after they reviewed it on Thursday the 10th I got it on September 15th, which was Tuesday. So to the original poster of this thread you might be able to figure out when they will review your test. I sat and waited for that mail everyday after it had been 3 weeks, and was totally crushed everyday it did not come.Everyone kept telling me, oh it's not gonna be that long 3-4 weeks. HA! Finally I thought maybe it got lost in the mail and finally called and they gave me the lowdown. They said we are furlouged 3 fridays a month and mailing out results has gone way down since people had been laid off also. Post how long it takes for you to get your results, becuase I will be curious to know....
I took mine June 24th I believe, which I believe was a Thursday. My best friend took it almost a month after I did (July 15th) and received her results before the 10th of August. She received her license the very next week after she saw her number online. I don't know what to tell you, maybe you got caught in the bulk of everything where they had a mass of graduates take the exam all at once. But I know when I took my exam and I know when I received my results and I know when I received my license in the mail and it was all within 6 weeks after taking the exam. I know my best friend took it on her day and I've seen her license so again I don't know what to tell you. You don't have to believe me or not, but I know it's the truth. As I said, keep checking the BVNPT website because your name will appear soon. Please let us know when you see it, it's a wonderful feeling!
Here's the lowdown....
Results are typically and very rarely mailed out before 4 weeks after the exam especially now due to the furloughs and the no overtime requirement from the Governor (of which no pay was given but time off instead). They use to get a lot of work done on Saturdays with no phones or interuptions.
Once you get your results, you then need to mail in the license fee which takes approximately a week to go through cashiering, be downloaded to the printer to make and issue the license (the Board never sees the actual card as it's mailed from the printer). This can take another week to two depending on the workload of the printer. At about the same time the license is being mailed from the printer, the information is then put onto the website under the online license verification. All in all, it's about a 6-8 week process from the time you take the exam. **when sending in your payment, make sure everything is correct on the form as that will be the name on the license and the address and send it certified, return receipt or something that will let you know it was received. Items with $$ (checks, money orders) are secured and the receptionist cannot see if it was received until after the cashiering unit has processed it.
One thing to keep in mind, CA gets applications from all over the country and outside of the country as it's one of the few states that license by equivalency. Check out Pearson Vue's site and see the number of accredited schools CA has vs the other states plus add all the paid experience people, partial education (BSN), foreign applicants, military, etc and with only 1 fulltime person doing results, it's a time consuming job.
I can't imagine how your friend got through so quickly as it is not the norm. Results are mailed in the order received from Pearson Vue and pass/fail go out the same day. Also, people who handle results do go on vacation, medical, etc and others have to jump in and cover but they are a priority so never ever let sit. (it may take those not so familar a few extra days but not much more than that). I had to do them a few times when I use to work there and they are not my cup of tea to do! Lots of entering stuff in the computer before pulling file, mailing out, refiling the file in either the pass area or back to the pending area. They also have to make sure the fingerprint results are in, photos match with Pearsons. Lots of little things to do, not just stuffing the envelope. You would all be surprised at how small the office is for the amount of work there is.
**and yes, you can drive/walk in to the office to pay your license fee and ask for a temporary. You cannot do this through the mail. By the time the cashiers read you wanted a temporary, they would be cashiering your check and ordering your license so it would all be for not..and a waste of their time to type out a temp. as you'd be getting your license the same time as the temp. ps...don't forget to renew early with return receipt or certified as furlough days are affecting renewal times also.
