Hi,
I am currently an LPN in TN. I am looking to enroll in the excelsior nursing program this August. I have heard of people completing the program in 6 months and I would like to do so, seeing that I am moving to Orlando and there are so many RN opportunities. Has anyone finished the excelsior nursing program in 6 months? I am sure I have all my pre-req seeing that I have a Bachelors Degree already. If you did finish in 6 months, how often did you study, what material did you use, and how often did you test? Thanks:)
Are you in the Orlando area? I'm asking because I'm a lpn trying to get my rn , I need all my pre requisites , but Valencia classes are full , they have options to take the classes online ttou flvc they are always open , do you think going straight thru excelsior is better ? I was planning on taking some of the courses because financial covers , I can do 4courses witch are the harder pre requisites? Will graduating from excelsior affect the job market here in Orlando (lake Nona) area ? Sorry for all the question, I just cant seem to decide if excelsior or not , I don't want to go to classes on campus or go thru clinical craziness again, I feel I got a lot from my lpn program but the job market for excelsior graduates here in Orlando will be the fact in making my decision. Thanks !!!
From enrollment to RN in hand was 10 months total. Took first nursing exam 08/18/2009, last nursing exam 11/02/2009, FCCA (paper version back then) 11/19/2009, A&P Thanksgiving eve '09, Micro Xmas Eve '09, CPNE test date of 01/11/2010 (rescheduled due to death in my family), CPNE test date and passed Valentine's weekend, official graduation date 04/16/2010, NCLEX-RN 06/16/2010, name on BON 06/24/2010 (took EIGHT WHOLE DAYS for that!). Throughout all of the exams, I was sitting in an actual classroom getting the general eds done. After the exams and before the CPNE, I ended up at LensCrafters!
You didn't use any material other than sg101 and the practice exams???I used studygroup101 and the excelsior practice exams. I am sure you are familiar, but it doesn't seem like that degree would have some of the requirements of the as in nursing. also, keep in mind the a&p and micro have to be within the last 5 years.

1HEALTH DIFFERENCES ACROSS THE LIFE SPAN 349401/03/20123.0B

2HEALTH DIFFERENCES ACROSS THE LIFE SPAN 249312/27/20113.0B

3HEALTH DIFFERENCES ACROSS THE LIFE SPAN 149212/17/20113.0A

4ESSENTIALS OF NURSING CARE: REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH49112/06/20113.0A

5ESSENTIALS OF NURSING CARE: CHRONICITY49011/29/20113.0A

6ESSENTIALS OF NURSING CARE: HEALTH DIFFERENCES48911/23/20113.0A

7MICROBIOLOGY55811/16/20113.0A

8ESSENTIALS OF NURSING CARE: HEALTH SAFETY48811/04/20113.0A

9TRANSITION TO THE REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE ROLE49510/31/20113.0A
