How long does it take to become licensed?

1 - 2 years for prereqs

2 - 4 years for nursing school (ADN or BSN)

Also need to include the waiting time for getting into nursing school.

Some schools have none and other have several year wait lists.

Or........you could go one year for your LPN, get licensed and go back to school part time or nights to bridge over to your RN.

It took me 3 years total for my ADN. Some are a little longer, some a little less. I took most of my pre-reqs before starting the nursing portion of the program.

As another poster mentioned, you could do an LPN program. The LPN program at my school was at least 2 years, with the pre-reqs.

I'll graduate in 2006....after 5 years of college. It's been worth it but it's been a long process and expensive too. :-(

Depends on where you go to school. The community college I went to had/has no prerequisate requirements. In fact we had students that graduated high school on the Sunday before Memorial Day, start class with us on that Tuesday. It was 2 full years of school however with a full load being 10-12 semester hours a quarter. I personally wouldnt reccommend that however as it is a full time plus commitment. I would go at it as a 3 yr plan taking the non-nursing classes a couple classes a quarter or if your school uses semesters 3 classes including the summer.
