In just over a years time, I'm on my 3rd pair of Brooks running shoes and just wondering how long you can wear a pair of shoes before having to replace? I recently wore my Danskos and my Alegrias to work and was miserable so it looks like running shoes are best for me. My husband teases me about how many shoes im going through but he just doesn't understand the need for comfort working 12 hour shifts. Tell me Im not alone????
Geeze, I'm surprised that people are replacing them so often; mine last several years. I wear mine until there are holes in the toes and you can see my socks right out the end (sometimes I wear socks that match the color of the shoe so that I can keep wearing them, lol).
However, I always use specialized insoles (Superfeet Womens' Comfort Blueberry); I do replace those more often than the actual shoes when they wear out, about every year or so.
I used to wear running shoes like sketchers, Reebok, Nike but they dont last long. I have to buy several pairs in a year. I tried switching to a hiking boots and I just love them.. I LOVE Keen high top hiking shoes. It's light, supports my ankle, and protect my toes. I have several co-workers who got injured at work from sprained ankle and toes getting run over by a gurney. Never have those problems so far. I tried other shoes, the last one was a New Balance. It was light and comfy but my feet started getting painful and tired not even halfway into the shift.
About 6-8 months for me. I have two pairs that I alternate days with. I spaced out the purchases so I'm buying 1 pair every 3-4 months instead of 2 pairs at the same time. I wear Fila brand with memory foam. They cost between $20-$50 and anytime the local shoe store has a sale I buy a pair (or two).
