hello everyone,
just curious at how long is everyones commute to school. i got accepted into an rn program (finally) but the commute is pretty far. can everyone share how long their commutes are? thanks!!!
I am not in a nursing program yet; just taking my pre-req's but my commute is awful. On Mondays and Wednesday I drive 25 minutes (that is going a little over the speed limit..lol) to and from class. On Tuesday and Thursday I drive 1 1/2 hours to and from class. We have one University in our town and it is a private one so it is really expensive and does not offer classes at night either. I work about 24 hours a week.
I am hoping to get into nursing school in the fall, and depending on where I get in or go it will be anywhere from about 35 minutes to an hour commute. That is on a good day though, so if we get hit with snow then that can change considerably. Not sure yet how far clinicals will be, that could tack on a good amount of time as well.
I attended LVN school in Southern California in 2004 and 2005. My commute was 190 miles daily (round trip), and I eventually put 53,000 miles on my poor vehicle during that year of LVN school. The commute was 95 miles one-way, five days per week. Overall, I would say it was worth it.
I now attend classes at a local community college in Texas. My commute is 9 miles one-way.

MMW37,
Thanks for the recommendation. I was and still am a little nervous about the commute. Especially around the winter months. But everyone's advice has really encouraged me. I just have to set myself up with a schedule and leaving early and staying late will definately force me to stay and study, rather than sitting in my car. I too hate traffic!! Thanks again!!
