How Long After Applying to a Job...

Published

Can anyone who has recently (in the past six months) started a new job share how long after submitting your application you waited before being contacted for an interview?  I know things are different now so I'm curious what others are experiencing.

Outpatient clinic - two days. State run psych institution - a few days more. Im assuming that if you go for hospitals and the more popular specialties, there will be a longer time between putting out a resume and first contact. I also imagine that some areas aren't really hiring much dues to budget cuts/ COVID and you will never hear from them.

Specializes in Critical Care; Cardiac; Professional Development.

It all depends on the facility. When I got this job I heard nothing for three months.

Not within the past six months but it really doesn’t matter-with COVID19 you will likely get phone screened and then a virtual interview before anything final and in person. I know you could literally be contacted next day after submitting a resume to a facility that is NOT a large organization (ex:large hospital/also has no hospital locations organization). The larger places seem to take a pool of applicants every month-review app/resume-and then offer interview-hence I applied, nothing for first three weeks while dropping applications online-and the 5 interview set up all in one week-4 with one organization and one with another-hiring process prepandemic-1 month from interviews to start date-now.....no clue but if you saw my inbox looking for travel contracts-I had not inquired-they found me-they are trying to prepare early or may already be stressed-but a contract isn’t permanent employment-they take you on staff-they May still want to go through the routine process and not “push” people through.
