How do you know it's time to change departments?

Published

I've been in ED for 10 years, and feeling incredibly stressed about work. We just merged with sister hospital and staff. However, the managers are less than desired....The problem is me I believe. How do you know when it's time to make a change??

How do you know the problem is you? With 10 years of ED experience, you have valuable skills that can be taken almost anywhere.

It couldn't hurt to scout out what other jobs are out there. Maybe ED was fine when you started, but now you are ready for a different sort of job.

"Incredibly stressed" happens to all of us on bad days, but if that level of stress is more than temporary, it will take its toll on your health. So get out while you can.

Uh.. the problem is NOT with you. 10 years of ED? You done more than enough! I think what you wrote there is already a sign that you need to move; with your experience, you can try for management/leadership or um/cm type of jobs at insurance or hospital. I am sure you have lots of options. Good luck!

Who has said it's you? Seems strange that you suddenly are the problem simply because of new management.

When is it time? When you start asking if it's time?

Perfect response! Thank you
