How am I supposed to get in with these grades?

Published

i have a 2.5 GPA, havent taken my sciences yet, but I think i'll do well. so far I've only taken, sociology, english 1101, 1102, US history, World Religions, basically all the non-science classes. I made a B in my college algebra class, a B in my psychology class, and I'm taking a Stats class right now and I think I'm going to fail.

I've lost sleep over this. In 2 more semseters, I'll be done with H&P, Micro, and Chem, and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to boost my gpa up, even though I know I'll make at least a B in those classes. I'm so afraid. People around me have 3.5s and they STILL get rejected!!! what makes me think I'll get in???! :crying2:

someone please give me some hope. and does anyone know any schools that might accept someone like me? it doesnt matter where it is, ill go. im desperate and discouraged at this point. am i allowed to go back and redo those classes?

Listen. I got in nursing school with a GPA

That gave me hope.

Guys, if I make As on my A&P classes, my Micro, chem 1152 and my Human development class, could I make a 3.2, or is that impossible? I'm going to speak to an advisor about this. Thanks for all your replies. They really cheered me up and gave me the motivation I needed. :)

I have 44 attempted hours, and 2.50 GPA. Could someone let me know?

Thank you!!! If I make all As, I can manage a 3.0! I hope that's good enough for the nursing program. Is it? I'm also a CNA

someone please give me some hope.

This is really up to you. Can you provide some information on why your GPA is so low? The classes you are planning on taking are certainly not easier than the ones you have finished.

You do have a good chance to raise your GPA, but you have to score really well the rest of the way out. Like mostly

As. I say this with some experience, my GPA when I decided to try to get into nursing school was 2.6. It was that low because I partied my buns off through school.

When I decided to go into nursing, I petitioned for my old transcript to be thrown out and I started from scratch, buckled down and applied to my program with a 4.0.

Whatever your reason is for getting low grades, find out what you can do to change it, then perform very well the rest of the way through.

Good luck!

What?! I can start from scratch if I wanted to?

My GPA is so low because I always took too many classes. I wanted to get out early, and my GPA suffered because of that. I couldn't handle all those classes, so I started to take 6 hours since last semester. I might just retake my classes and get all As on the science ones, and maybe it'll work out. If not, I'm going to look into the starting from scratch thing.

I know of some community colleges that do the "start fresh" thing, but that would mean getting rid of the A's and B classes. I just ended up retaking a lot "bad" and expired classes.

I know it's late to drop now, but always ask yourself: which would you rather have? The D/F on you record (that you can never erase) or the bill which may put a huge dent in your pocket, but your GPA won't suffer. I made the same mistake as you and chose the latter. Either way, you still have to retake the class and you still have to pay for it.

Depending on some schools, a WF may not count on on your total GPA and you might have to ask your school about that. If it does count towards your GPA, then (like the others said) work really hard to push it up. There are tons of tutorials on line (youtube helped me alot). As your teacher if you can work on some extra credit or a project. Anything to get more points. Your last bet is to talk with your teacher and your academic adviser. Tell them your situation, they might help you out. Ask about changing it to an audit class (which won't count on your gpa); however, FAFSA doesn't like audit classes and you have to pay out of pocket. Regardless, at least your GPA is safe.

In the end, if you do have to retake this class, look up profs at ratemyprof.com or ask around for good math profs. This goes for any profs you take in the future. I wish I had this resource before because it would have saved me a lot of headaches dealing with the sucky profs that I was stuck with.
