Please don't be offended, CNA's. This particular CNA, who I am hopeful does NOT represent the majority of CNA's around here, insists on dispensing the patient's meds at times other than indicated by the prescribing physician. She goes through the patient's wallet (it's a home health care situation), enters checks in pt's registry, tells pt "I love you," and drives his (luxury) car home when she doesn't have a ride (which is pretty much every night).
When I asked this CNA a second time time to NOT leave pt alone in the bathroom at 1 AM (explaining his ataxia, orthostatic hypotension, etc.) she screamed "don't tell me how to do my job!"
I am not a RN (yet) so not really savvy about these things. The patient I described is my father who is in late stages of PD with PD psychosis (now you know why I'm so concerned that she's changed the timing of his medication). But certainly there must be a licensing board in CT where I can file a complaint about her unethical behavior???

Why not complain to the agency that she works for?

Try getting in contact with the Connecticut Department of Health. The Board of Nurses is within that department. Surely, they can lead you in the right direction. Connecticut does have a "board" that oversees CNA's and HHA's. You can go to that site and check out if there are any disicplinary actions against a CNA or HHA. Check it out, see if she is on the list for any "wrongdoings" https://registry.chauncey.com/registry/publicCT
Also, if that pt were my mom/dad (whomever) I'd be on the horn with the agency that employees that CNA giving them an earful of whats going on. I don't see why you can't request that she not come back as your dad's CNA. (actually in the home setting she isn't a CNA she is a HHA, home health aid). You really should clue the agency in on her behavior. They might not know whats going on if no one has ever reported it.

First step is direct with her. You tried that and no effect.
Second is her agency. If you do not get IMMEDIATE response and action with a follow up,
Third is her board of nursing
Even if the agency offers to swap out caregivers (most likely), you should demand a satisfactory explanation. Remember, you are protecting your loved one, and upholding the reputation of your future career. You have been patient enough. Time to take action.

the appropriate agency for reporting this would be: practitioner licensing and investigations section of dph.
the bon doesn't certfiy nurse aides, only licensed nurses. all practitioner complaints start at this department. if the complaint involves a person who has a board (nurse, doctor. etc) it is turned over after initial investigation.
