I failed the test the first time. I believed it was the end of the world. I had just graduated and the weight of the world seemed to be on my shoulders. Instead of being realistic about needing a mental break, I took the test. After viewing my results, I could not believe what I saw.
Studying became my priority and I was determined to stick to my 3 week study plan. I completed the Saunders assessment and used the 6 week study schedule. Each day I completed two days of the study plan. As I reviewed, I tried my best to stay encouraged and believe that what I was reading would make a difference.
Unfortunately, once I completed the study schedule, as the test date vastly approached, I realized I scored worse on the final comprehensive assessment than the initial assessment. However, I didn't allow that to discourage me. The day before the test, I relaxed with my family and tried not to think about the exam. The next morning I arrived at the testing sight with deep breathing exercises in mind, I could not allow my nerves to get the best of me once again. And I PASSED! Within 78 questions, I became a registered nurse.
I wrote this message to encourage anyone who feels that passing is not possible. Determination, discipline and a positive attitude goes a long way. I scheduled my test immediately after receiving my ATT. It seemed to soon but I did not want to put it off any longer. I took my exam six weeks after I graduated and failed. Although once I received my ATT, I studied for 3 weeks and PASSED!
In the preparation the second time, relax and simply review. Saunders NCLEX book and CD was all I used the second time around. The first time I used the Kaplan review course (which didn't seem to help) and their test bank.
If I can be of any assistance to anyone or if you just need a word of encouragement, feel free to write back or message me!
I am praising GOD daily for I am a living testimony of HIS amazing works!

Thank you so much. I believe you have the right approach. However, do not overwhelm yourself. Focus on one or the other and pace yourself. Kaplan is great if you just need a question bank. Saunders provides a guided study plan if you have the CD. The PDA book was helpful to my classmates if you want to look into it.
I believe you have to read for understanding and do not get caught up with memorizing. You know the material you just have to know how to use it. Pace yourself and relax. You will be fine!
Thanks for your respond and congratulations all new RN. :yelclap:
I took my NCLEX-RN test on Saturday 09/08/12 at 08.00 am. Still there test result on hold message. That test day, I don't have any computer and power problems. I did not break any rules. My computer shut down on 75, which is I did not expected. I am so nervous last weekends and I called today morning and they said my test result will be ready Wednesday. Is there any thing I can do?

Thank you so much
The only think I can thing of is depending on where you stay you can go to the secretary of state website and attempt to look up your license. It may say pending which mean they have not received your results or it will list active and your RN number.
Try that and let me know if it works!!
Congrats! ive actually been doing the same 6 week study plan...i also work full time and study at work since i work the noc shift. i was wondering if you were answering questions as well as reading the chapters the same time...or did you just read read read. because of my limit with time each day, im only able to read and do questions on my days off..i guess im a bit concerned that im just reading too much and not testing what ive read..please get back to me when you cant...THANK YOU. and CONGRATS again!

I read and just did the questions within the section It seemed very overwhelming to read and do extra questions but that;s because I did the 6 week plan in 3 weeks. If you feel you need more questions that have a feature on the disc were you can do questions specific to the section your reviewing Just try not to overwhelm yourself because it makes it challenging to study the next day.
I am sure you will do fine! Let me know if I can help!
Thanks! I appreciate your post =)

Thank you so much! I wish your husband much success. I would advise him to pace himself. If he has the CD, take the assessment and follow the study calendar. I had to shorten it but if he has 6 weeks, that's even better. I would complete the comprehensive exam at least two days out. No matter what the score is - RELAX and do nothing the day before the exam =)
Please share his good news =)
