I am a new graduate nurse and I am starting my first RN job in a nursing home. I will basically being pushing a med cart. I have been wanting to have a tummy tuck for 10 years now. I had a consultation last week, but I have no idea of how I am going to pull this off? The surgeon says I will need 3 weeks to recover, but I will not be able to do any lifting or exercise for 4 weeks. I know I can't do this right away, but I don't want to wait too long. I need some suggestions. I know that I get two weeks paid vacation, but what about the other two weeks. I don't want to do anything to jeprodize my job, and I won't. I want to have the surgery before I switch to a more active RN position. Any suggestions??????????
I had the "mommy makeover," including a breast lift, buttock lift, a complete abdominoplasty and major liposuction after my last child was born. Best thing I ever did for myself. My recovery time was about a month, but I think it was closer to 2 months before I picked up another shift.
Awesome LINEARTHINKER. You motivated me.
I would agree that plastic surgery has gone to some pretty far extremes.I just don't see a person that lost weight or has a large amount of loose skin from having kids, and that person wanting to fix that, the same as someone that is contiuously altering their body to fit hollywoods image of what a girl should look like.
Couldn't agree with you more
Goodness, you just started the job. Not being judgmental or anything but you did not have the dollars over the summer, meaning no cash reserves. Now you JUST started working and already want to blow the unpaid check plus more. By all mean,s get the tummy tuck but get some reserves first.
Actually I did have cash reserved, but I was not willing to blow half of it on a tummy tuck. Because I have such genourous friends and family, who through me a awesome party and gave me awesome cash gifts, I have the extra money. But as I said previously, I will be patient and wait until the timing is right. Thanks.

I'm not gonna lie- when I first woke up I thought, "what the heck did I do?" Only not in those exact words! But that only lasted for maybe a day. The next day I was just taking ibuprofen and doing great. After that it was more "discomfort" than anything. The abdominal binder helped so I didn't feel my insides were falling out! Having to take a sponge bath for two weeks though was not fun. You will need someone to help you the first couple days. You will need someone to empty your drains and just take care of you in general. If my hubby wasn't there I would not have emptied them! The first day was pretty rough. Yes, I have a scar and yes, it goes from hip to hip--but when you have a gut that looked like a deflated balloon- the scar is worth it. They took about 6 inches of extra skin off of me. I weighed 110 pounds but needed to wear a bigger size because of my gut. My hubby said he didnt care, that he loved me just the way I was- but I did it for ME! I had to have a revision because he didn't take enough off the first time. (they have to be careful that they don't take too much). Even having it done twice---worth every penny!
