Hi group,
I just joined. I have completed my BSN and now am searching for an accredited adult or family practice NP program online. I do not want to have to take the GRE nor do I want to have to do a thesis. In addition, I am hoping to not have to travel for schooling since I have a family and I need to try and stay put. I know that the family practice NP program is very competitive to be accepted into so I am looking to try and find an adult NP program. Is there any place I can find a list of NP online programs?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Beth

I don't know of any list, but I can recommend a few schools that I have found in my research for online schools. University of Alabama at Birmingham has an online NP programs (FNP #11 in nation), with 2 (3 day) visits required for entire program. Also, University of South Alabama (CCNE); University of St. Louis (CCNE) and rated #52. All do not require GRE. Good luck
Thank you so much for your reply. Do these universities require clinical onsite or do they allow clinical in the student's home area?
Thank you again.
Clinicals are arranged in your area. I believe that the three schools I listed require a couple visits to campus throughout the entire program. What I did was go on "US News and World Report" top rated graduate schools; printed out the list of the top 50 nursing grad schools in the country, went on each website to see if any were offered online. US News also has them broken down per speciality (i.e., Nurse Anesthesia, Midwife, ANP, GNP, etc...) Took some time, but I want to go to a good school.
Opps....that's St. Louis University

Beth,
I am currently attending the University of South Alabama (USA). I live in VA, doing all my classes online, and will be lining up my own clinicals locally. No GRE, Stats, or thesis.
I am about to begin my 5th semester (first clinical semester). We do have one 2 day visit to AL this semester for a "clinical workshop" where I'd told we will have a suture workshop, vag exams, etc. One of the faculty told me they can, at their discretion, bring us back for additional visits but have not had to do so as of yet.
I have a pharmacist friend that lives near the school and one of my NP preceptors that I will work with this semester who both had good things to say about the program, although neither had personal experience with the school.
Also, although the tuition has gone up a bit each semester, you do get in state tuition for online classes.

Thank you for your input. I think I am going to do more investigating UAB
Sorry- I will check out USA instead of UAB.

Check out University of Cincinnati-all online, no campus visits, no GRE provided your undergrad GPA was great (not sure what the bottom was). Good luck!
