How do I find an employer willing to help re-pay student loans

Published

I am looking for an employer that is willing to help re-pay student loans. I would be willing to consider relocation as well. How do I find out where these employment opportunities are located?

I think your chances of finding a hospital to do that are very slim -- assuming you are in the US. I have never worked for such a hospital. It is not a benefit that is typically offered, even in better economic times. With employers having multiple applicants for most jobs in today's job market, that is simply a benefit they do not need to pay.

Unless you have some special skills that make you a particularly "hot commodity" on the market -- skills that are rare and that an employer would pay extra for. If that is the case, then you would probably find such opportunities through your existing professional contacts, professional societies, etc.

Another possibility is an employer so terrible to work for -- or located in such an undesirable community -- that they can't successfully recruit staff.

3rd option is the federal government. There are some programs that help with student loans in exchange for working in under-served areas and/or for certain public programs. (Your school's financial aid office should have given you information on those programs before you graduated.)

Good luck with that in the current economic climate. As llg notes, it was rare back when the economy was good.
