Hi, when I was doing homecare, I carried a laptop computer, an ECG with printer (if it was a cardiac patient - post op open heart), my bag with my nursing things (stethescope, bloodpressure cuff bandages, scissors etc) and sometimes a bag with blood drawing supplies - oh! and a sharps container. Yep! It can be a lot to carry around. You just get used to it.

Many of the bag/backpacks designed for EMS use have multiple pockets and sections, along with rugged construction. You might want to look into some of them.

I actually bought a folder with 8 inner folders that was lightweigh to carry all forms I may need, and with my visit schedule as wel as printed directions. I also have one set up only for the office, such as trainings, in-services, etc. Plus I have one just for all the committees I'm on. Also, I have a nurses bag from a uniform store, kind of pricey, but it's lasted a long time and has soo many compartments for blood pressure cuff, etc. When I go into the home, I just have my one folder with everything inside. :) Good luck!!

I looked several nursing catalogs and online and found one that worked for me. I also bought a plastic expanding file folder that kept my forms in my trunk, in a milk carton along with all of my extras. I tried to keep the stuff in my bag to just what I would need for that day. I also used a plastic clipboard that had an storage area underneath to hold my finished paperwork for HIPPA reasons.
