Especially the experienced nurses. Do you have time to exercise? Do you eat right? Do you think being a nurse makes you more health conscience? Do you work with many unfit or overweight nurses?

I will admit, I think the first on this post, that I am fat, my diet is not the best and I drink Coca-Cola like I own stock in the company and I smoke. I have a low BP my cholesterol is not bad and CBG normal. I do however consider myself pretty fit. I work the ER and can keep up with my coworkers just fine.

Not overweight but I need to exercise more & watch my diet.

I used to be slim without ever worrying about it, then I hit 45 and menopause:mad: and also became very very hypothyroid. I also developed several chronic conditions EBV for one. Now weight is a major struggle. I have to be very careful about how much I exercise and not get tired or over do, other wise I'll re-activate my EBV. I've had to give up a lot of my previous activites such as riding. So I consider myself not very fit:o.

im pretty committed to health myself. i have not had fast food in over a decade and exercise constantly. the walk from my home to the subway is 15 minutes, so that is at least 30 min of walking round trip each day. factor in the twice a day 20 min walks for my dogs, and that's over an hour of walking (not including what I may do at work). i also do pole fitness dancing 3x a week, so that keeps me in tip top shape (in fact, NO fitness routine I have ever done even compares to this. hands down the toughest and best workout I've ever tried). it's super important to keep in good shape...how else would we set an example for our patients?

I'm a student, so i think we all know this is going to be interesting: I'm 5'3 and about 100. I exercise once every three weeks. I eat when I'm hungry, stop eating when I'm full, and hope for the best. I have vitamins, just don't take them. I try to eat lots of fruit, lower fat foods, and only drink diet soda or water. I don't smoke, but I do live near Cleveland :)

I am a student preparing for graduation in May . I am a marathon runner, I practice yoga as well as strength train. I quit the gym when I started school and bought an elliptical for days I can't run. My diet is healthy but I do like a burger and fries from time to time.

I want to lead by example and teach patients the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise. I feel that I am responsible for setting a standard of what "good health" is all about. If I am overweight, out of shape and in poor health what message does that send?

I am decidedly unfit, but able to perform my job as a CNA on a busy TCU extremely well - much better than more fit coworkers. Same goes for nursing school; many classmates are in better shape, but almost none of them outperform me.

Of course, I do continue to try to improve my health, but I do not let my fitness deficiencies stand in the way of my job or school performance.

Im super-duper healthy!

I work 3 12-14hr shifts on a med-surg floor and am moving all day. I also run 3 miles atleast 4 days a week and mix in bike rides. I never miss doing something even for 1 day. I lift 2 times per week and do situps 4 days a week. I eat pretty good and avoid sodas alcohol. I do eat a cheat meal on my days off. Sometimes I feel like a lunatic cause if I work 2 shifts in a row the fist day shift I will skip cardio but after the second shift I will run 3 miles at nite after a 14 hr shift! I got to earn those nice veins and good bp and hr!

I've been pretty unhealthy the last several years, but am slowly turning that around now. I run several times a week, hit the gym 2-3 times a week, and have started training for a moderate distance run.

I'm still about 40 pounds overweight, but I've lost about 15 with the exercising, so I expect more to come off.

My diet is my downfall. I eat fairly healthily, but I have a dreadful sweet tooth, and will really just pack away the sugar sometimes. I also love to have a beer or glass of wine in the evenings, and I think I will just have to go cold turkey on that for a while.
