My payments will be around $600/month, for 10 years, if I choose the route I'm taking. I'm in NC where starting pay is usually around $24. If I happen to have at least one kid in the future, do you think it would be considerable hard to pay off this debt and a lot of stress? Or would you guys find this manageable and wouldn't hurt much?

I think that's a lot to be paying, but regardless it's what you owe. I think this will delay certain life goals: kids, house, travel, etc. It's crazy what an education can cost.

Only if you're not smart with your money. I graduated with significantly more student loan debt than the majority of my friends. I've owned my house for 2 years and my 2 best friends- despite little to no student loan debt- both still live with their parents.

I'm only guessing, but I wonder if you're heading to my alma mater. Hint: it's the opposite of what my screen name suggests!

50K is a bunch of money, so yes - you need a budget, and you need to figure it out NOW before you sign the papers.

I have triple that amount of student loans and own a house (mortgage is about $1200/month) and also have a husband with student loans. Just what our generation has to deal with. Debt because you have to go to school to work. Sad cycle and sad that everyone in their 20's is broke because of getting an education.
