How goes everyone journey to Nursing School...

Published

Hi, curious how thing's are going? I am looking forward to starting the Fall Semester. Taking Anatomy 1 & 2 this Fall. Feels long, but probably not as long for some. Only 3 semesters so far. Finished my prerequites for program applying to last Spring.

Going to reapply at the end of the Fall Semester. Looking to take the TEAS again as well this year. Hopefully only once, but if need be a second time.

My goal is for the TEAS to achieve an 80 or higher hopefully. Received 73 both times I took the TEAS. Took the TEAS prior to taking Microbiology and Anatomy & Physiology 2. So hoping now that I finished those classes that will help me bump up my score.

Hoping for AP 1 & 2 to achieve a B+ or higher. B- & C+ respectively in these classes. Have most of the lab manual done and going to try to complete all the online homework by the end of September for these classes. So I can just focus on the exams.

Then in the Spring plan to take Lifespan & Development and Statistics. I think I be able to by the end of the Spring apply to aB accelerated program.

My wife and I are thinking April will be a month for decisions. If I am not accepted into the 2018 nursing program where we live thinking of moving out of State. Wife will have a year experience as an LPN. No point to continue for an Associates and if I go for a Bachelor's degree my prerequisite clock will be getting closer to expiring. Look at moving to California or Virginia possibly. Wife loves California. It's a bit expensive would of liked to move there as a Nurse. Have family out there and there seems to be a lot if job openings in the fields wife & I work. Also more programs to apply to. Saw they have a few Direct Entry Master Nursing programs. Where my Dad lives Saddleback CC is a short 15 minute drive away. Also family in Charlottesville Virginia area. So we shall see what happens.

Wouldn't mind moving to a State that has a State run LPN/LVN program then going for my BSN.

Curious on how goes your journey to Nursing school?

Are you retaking A&P 1/2? Sorry I'm a little confused...or were you able to apply with those two unfinished? My school requires at least 1 A&P done to apply. I'm just finishing up what your Spring semester will be Lifespan and Stats. Lifespan was cool it was nice to get it finished in the Summer, Idk if I would want to take it all semester like in fall/spring term. This coming fall I will be taking A&P 2 and BioOrganic Chem. I hope it goes smoothly because I have always done my science classes separately. I actually moved from California so if you plan on going to nursing school out there it is an extremely long wait.

California is definitely expensive, but I do love the opportunities for school and work. Our schools are extremely competitive so it is vital you bring up those prerequisites. Also, to be safe, make sure they are able to be transferred over to whatever school(s) you are thinking about applying to AND if the school you plan on going to accepts grade repeats/entrance exam repeats. The school I want to apply to accepts the highest grade, but only the first TEAS score. Make sure to keep those in mind before you consider a big move, but do what you is best for you and your wife.

I'm currently finishing up the last of my homework assignments for my Lifespan and Development class. I need to take the final by Saturday night so I'll be doing the last of my studying through Saturday. After this class, I only need A&P II which I am signed up for in the Fall. Just for some extra points, I'll be taking stats during the winter session. After that I'll be applying during the spring semester, studying for the TEAS, and finishing up any courses needed to get my BSN eventually. I am really looking forward to starting nursing school and working my hardest.

I'm in the waiting period. All classes are done, applications submitted. Should know by mid-Sept, though hopefully sooner, of course :)
