I work night shift, my manager works days, my shift is usually well over by the time she gets to work. I need to give my 2 weeks notice. Can I call or email? It takes me about 30-45 minutes to drive in. Most of our communications happen over email or phone..

mmc51264 makes a good point. I was required to give 4 weeks notice.

My current employer requires a month of notice. As soon as I find an acceptable replacement job, they'll get a letter and email. I SERIOUSLY doubt I'll be giving a full notice. This employer has been known to escort staff out right after they turn in their notice. I'll pay them the same respect they pay me.

I also did an exit interview and was honest. I did not leave my first job for any other reasons that I was driving an hour each way, 5 days a week for my dream job that is still a little far (40-45 min) but only 3 days a week.

Does anyone know if they do, in fat, escort someone out w/o letting them work out their notice, do they get the PTO cash out and eligible for rehire? It wouldn't be the employee's fault
