I have been told that nursing school is quite uptight and has little room for flexibility on your part, but that you must be flexible and available for them. How do you manage this with a family? Just curious, thanks :)

You manage it by being flexible! Set up childcare that can accomodate your needs on short notice. Beg family and friends to be a backup when required. It's not always fun, but somehow it works out .

our school isn't very flexible at all. they told us upfront that we need to be VEEERY flexible & be open to things (class times, clinical times/sites/days) changing at the last minute. the girls in class that have kids set up reliable, flexible daycare.

FAMILY!!! With the help of my husband as well as my family as a back-up just in case, I make it work. And I work full-time, but my job is pretty flexible when it comes to me taking time off for anything to do with school (which I only had to do once). A good support system is key!

My program is not flexible at all but expects me to change my schedule at a moments notice. It nearlt cost me my previous job. At least the hospital is more flexible and understands the sudden changes.

My school made it clear that Nursing school will be first priority even before our jobs and family.
I'm taking it as there is no flexibility offered at all.

Mine was the same as the others that said: no flexibility! We just had to suck it up and be ready to change plans on a moments notice. Its not a lot of fun but it can be done. Good luck.
