How to fix hair for clinicals?

Some nurses wear their hair down, although they shouldn't. Mine is long too, and I first put it in a ponytail, then braid the ponytail, then put that in a bun. I've finally figured out how to make it look cute. It took me awhile. We get a Unsatisfactory if we have one strand of hair hanging down our face.

The only way you can wear it in a ponytail, is if the ponytail doesn't move toward your face, or over your shoulder when you bend down or move around. Some girls whose hair is right below their shoulders get away with the ponytail.

WOW, I haven't heard of this. When I worked in the hospital as a CNA, a lot of nurses had long hair and just wore it down. I usually braided mine, though, to keep it out of who knows what.

We had the same requirements in the military - hair in a bun or cut above the collar, only clear nail polish if any and only natural looking make-up (not the caked on look).
My hair was very long and I found a special kind of bobby pin for buns that made it really easy to put up and it stayed all day. I was recently in the ER with one of my Sons and noticed that many of the Nurses on duty had long hair that was only pulled back in the front. I'm guessing that Nursing Schools might be a bit more strict with their "grooming standards" than when you are an actual Nurse in your workplace.

Well, I guess it's just one extra thing to make it obvious that "HEY, I'M A STUDENT!" :rotfl:

i had long hair my first semester. Our rules were the same as yours. So I usually just washed my hair in the morning combed it and twisted it up into one of those claw clips. As long as the clip was black the teacher had no problem with it. This semester I ended up cutting my hair so I just wore it down.

LONG , very curly and thick red hair here and I use a BIG hair clip to pull back in a twist. It looks good and never gets into patients' faces this way! HTH!

I cut my lovely long locks in October. Loved it for about 2 weeks. Since then? Hate it. MUCH more work than when it was long, no getting away with a ponytail / clip any more - I have to start from scratch and actually FIX my hair every day, and even then I still hate how it looks. Growing out sure takes a lot longer than cutting it off did! Ah well, if I hadn't done it, I'd still be wondering whether or not I should, lol.

I feel your pain! I cut my hair all off a few years ago because my youngest boy, who was then a teeny tiny little guy, would constantly grab a handful and twist it around his teeny tiny little fist & yank--hard! Now that it's short it's a ton more work because I can't just pull it back and go. My older kids have to be horrified when I drop them off at school with my hair sticking out all over the place because I didn't have time to do it before we left the house! I've tried three or four times in the past three years to grow it out, but get too frustrated. My hair is very curly and thick and tends to go just wherever it feels like it, so I end up whacking it all off again...guess that'll make it easier when I start school though...
