How to find a good agency

Published

I've been traveling for two years - I've been with 3 diff. agencies, amer mobile, cross ctry, medstaff. They're pretty much the same. Whenever I go south, I end up taking apay cut. I haven't gotten a raise in two years, never rec'd a bonus even though most agencies will advertise them. I went to California last year and it cost me almost $800, they reimbursed me $250.

Would appreciate any help in how to negotiate.

I am wanting to go into traveling in May. This is very disheartening news. What is your specialty?

Hi,I am sorry to hear of your negative experience while travelling,I would like to travel also and seem to read the same information about the same companies,I guess thats a hint,If anyone knows how to pick a good company to work for,it seems they all have broken promises of bonuses that do not follow through, any one know how to go about finding the better companies to work for?

My specialty is critical care, ICU.

Are you planning to continue traveling? Has there been any perks for you? I mean are you at all glad that you did it?

Think it all comes down to the agency that you sign with. Do your homework first.

T am definitely planning on continuing to travel.

don't get me wrong - the experience is great. I have enjoyed these last 2 years. The best is getting to see the country - my husband and I spent last year in California and it was exciting. It's not the assignments (I've only had one bad experience). My problem is knowing if I got the best deal I could have. I meet other travelers and sometimes, not always, I feel like I was short changed. I would just like to stay with one agency that would treat me fairly because I always give them 100%.

I recently went through an issue of RN with another traveler. he has been traveling for 10 years and has used many companies. As we flipped through the ads he told me the pros and cons of each (if he knew them or had worked with other travelers with those companies). I am a new traveler (on my first assignment) and found it very informational to know that many of the travel companies are all actually owned by one big one and are virtually the same... Word of mouth is the best way to find a good agency.

Based on my experience, I would avoid Intelistaf

has anyone out there ever worked with The Right Solutions? A travel nurse where I work says she's worked with many and that it is the best she's worked for.
