PMHNP or FNP w/ Psych BA?
Your observation is correct. PMHNP are not as common on the forefront as FNP. This can be a good or bad thing. Bad because there are not many opportunities available as of yet. Good, because this occupation is on the rise. It is being offered at more schools now and some psychiatrist are really utilizing them. But what is even better is that there are very few rural areas with access to adequate mental health care and this opens great doors for psych practitioners. I have been in mental health for a while as an RN. I am going back to school to become a psychiatrist. I am deciding now whether to become a psych prac or family prac as a means of income to support myself thru med school. Hope this helps. You can always PM me.

Has anyone ever convinced their husband to leave his job to follow them traveling?
Hey, I hope he takes the leap into traveling with you. My husband has decided to go to nursing school. Traveling had a lot to do with his decision. I can't wait to get started.

I am weighing all the pros and cons of traveling and would like some help. I would like to know what is the most take home pay that some of you have brought home as a traveler and the hours you worked to receive this. Was this with the housing stipend or not. And what is your specialty. Thanks for the info.

Ask your recruiter about hospitals that have daycares on site. These usually stay open 24 hrs. What is your specialty?

Thanks for replying. Seeing that there are others out there who took the leap makes us more sure of going ahead with it. How long have you been traveling? Any drawbacks? Are you saving money?

Anyone work as a Psych nurse with sex offenders?
I work in a residential treatment facility. You will find that most adolescent offenders have been victims themselves for a long period of time before they act out. The stories are horrid, you have to be "called" into this type of work.

Has anyone ever convinced their husband to leave his job to follow them traveling?
I would like to travel and I want my family with me. We have 3 children and never see eachother because we work opposite shifts so as not to send the 2 youngest to daycare. I have told my husband that we can have an exciting life traveling and that I can earn what we both earned and still have fun ( I hope this is true). I need input from you all how to make this happen, housing wise and transportation wise, etc. I need to know if there are others traveling with their spouses (husbands specifically) who are not working, but taking care of the kids and how is this working for you? Help? Any family friendly agencies out there? We've already sold the house and are living in an apt before buying the next. I want to travel before we buy our next home. While we are not tied down. Thanks for any responses.
