How do you fill your cup?

Published

I was once asked at the end of a long day in a chemotherapy unit "How do you fill your cup at the end of the day?" I would love to hear how all of you revive the soul at the end of a giving shift, and come home to your families and loved ones (including pets) and continue to give some more. For most of us the day is not done at the end of 8 or 12 hours and it is really important to share with each other how to fill the cup back up!

I keep my cup empty as the empty space inside is more important than the cup!:chuckle

I fill mine with wine . . . lots and lots of wine. :)

Very good, grasshopper!

Specializes in floor to ICU.

since it is christmas time- I have been tuning my shower radio to the local station that plays only holiday tunes. a hot steamy shower and really loud music does wonders for me:Singing:

I try to leave work at work, but it's hard because they are always calling with short notice shifts.

I plan my month so that I always have 2 days off consecutively, and I don't answer the phone.

I work out on my elliptical every day while watching ELLEN.

I ride and train horses, try to get to the barn 4-5 times a week.

I surf the web.

I prioritize the things that are important to me, and schedule those things.

I continue to learn more, so that one day I can work in a specialty area and get out of floor nursing.

I spend quality time with my family and try not to miss too many school events, soccer games and bedtime cuddles.

I look forward to the day when I can take a parttime rotation.
