How are clinical groups?

Published

Hello! I start nursing school in a week and was thinking about if our clinical group would want to carpool. Did everybody in your clinical group get along? Other advice welcomed!

I've always had good clinical experiences with my clinical classmates. With that being said, I generally like to drive myself to clinical because I can't trust anyone else to get me somewhere so important on time. I also like to get to the site early to sit in my car so I can eat breakfast, listen to music and just be alone prior to a busy day. For my first rotation for fundamentals, the site would only allow us to bring 2 cars into their parking lot per our group of 8 . We would meet at a shopping center down the street and ride together. I had an agreement with the group that they needed to be in my car at 0545 or they would be left behind. This was very stressful for all of us because we didn't want to leave anyone behind and we also wanted to get ourselves there on time. It was tough because this was my first rotation and I didn't know nor trust anyone. Luckily it was only for 4 weeks. I don't really want to do that again!

I don't carpool, since I don't live near anyone, but some people do. You guys can all chat on the first day and see who lives near who and figure that out amongst yourselves. There are some people who are friends. One of my closest friends in my class is in my clinical group, but she lives in a completely different direction from the hospital than I do.
