How are clinical groups?

Hello! I start nursing school in a week and was thinking about if our clinical group would want to carpool. Did everybody in your clinical group get along? Other advice welcomed!

It depends on where people live. Some people live closer to the clinical site than the meet point. I always likes to drive myself. I do t have to worry about people being late to the meeting point and I like the quiet time in my car before clinicals start.

Our clinicals are early in the morning so I leave from my house. We would just meet up at the hospital.

Yeah I was thinking I will just do that. I will be just so nervous lol

Don't be nervous! You'll learn so much in clinical, it is my favorite part of nursing school. One piece of advice I would give: The night before, get everything in your car so you don't have to think about it the next morning.

As for carpooling, I wouldn't. Too many variables may come up, and you are responsible for being on time.

To me, clinicals was the best; I got along with a ton of my cohorts because we were all either nervous and can decompress together; I still stay in contact with most of my cohorts that I did clincials with.

My clinical group got along great but we quickly realized car pooling was not going to work. We had to be at clinicals too early in the morning for is to meet prior to being there. Plus our school was pretty close to our sight so it was easier (and gave is a few extra minutes to sleep) to just drive to clinicals on our own.

This. I actually have a bag that I keep all my clinical stuff in. It stays in my car.

It really depends. As of now, I know one of the eight people in my clinical. We are cool. I would not say friends, but we know each other from pre reqs. We have decided to carpool. I hear some clinical groups become families, others just say to heck with each other.

Several people from my class carpooled to clinicals, and as far as I know there weren't any problems. We were allowed to request clinical groups to make carpooling easier. I never did, but I like to drive by myself. It gives me quiet time to think.

There were 8 people in our clinical group. One person dropped out halfway through. We all meshed well personality wise, but I only carpooled with one another person. She and I became good friends quickly, and we took turns driving. We went out to eat often during our one hour break between lecture and clinical. Once the semester was over, our instructor and all 7 of us went out to eat, but besides that, we didn't really interact outside of school, and mostly everyone drove themselves to the site.

I started the semester driving by myself but ended up carpooling with three of the people in my group. We never had any issues with being late - we met up at an initial location and had a mutually agreed upon rule that we would leave at a set time, no waiting for stragglers. We took turns driving so it was nice to save on gas and also surprisingly great to be able to talk things through with my peers before and after the clinical day.

I've always had good clinical experiences with my clinical classmates. With that being said, I generally like to drive myself to clinical because I can't trust anyone else to get me somewhere so important on time. I also like to get to the site early to sit in my car so I can eat breakfast, listen to music and just be alone prior to a busy day. For my first rotation for fundamentals, the site would only allow us to bring 2 cars into their parking lot per our group of 8 . We would meet at a shopping center down the street and ride together. I had an agreement with the group that they needed to be in my car at 0545 or they would be left behind. This was very stressful for all of us because we didn't want to leave anyone behind and we also wanted to get ourselves there on time. It was tough because this was my first rotation and I didn't know nor trust anyone. Luckily it was only for 4 weeks. I don't really want to do that again!
