  1. Do the ABSN. I start my program in a couple weeks. And yes I know it will be very vigorous but they are not trying to set you up for failure. Many people have done it before you and survived. Just realize that major sacrifices will probably have to be made.
  2. Well I'm am definitely going to go into the ABSN program. But my major question is that since I did so well in the ADN program should I expect to be able to do the same in ABSN?
  3. So I am kind of in a unique situation. I applied to an ABSN program in 2012 and unfortunately did not get in so I then applied to an ADN program and started this past Fall. Just as one last effort I actually applied to the ABSN program again around the time I started in the other program. Crazy enough during the middle of the ADN semester I found out I was accepted into the ABSN program. I decided to finish out the semester and even received an A in the course. But I guess my question is has anybody else been in a similar situation? I felt really confident in my ADN program and was wondering if ADN and ABSN programs are somewhat structured the same. I know there is a lot more courses and materials I will get in the ABSN but am I okay to feel confident going into this or should I basically just forget everything and go in expecting something completely different?
  4. I hope to stay ahead of my reading, studying, and assignments! Nothing done last minute!
  5. My clinical group got along great but we quickly realized car pooling was not going to work. We had to be at clinicals too early in the morning for is to meet prior to being there. Plus our school was pretty close to our sight so it was easier (and gave is a few extra minutes to sleep) to just drive to clinicals on our own.
  6. My nursing class was great in that they gave us the schedule of the entire semester during orientation. I would read the related material a few days prior to the lecture and print out the PowerPoint that were provided. I would record the lecture and take as many notes on the PowerPoint as I could. After that I would barely even go back to the book for that lecture unless there was something that I really was not sure about. It's best to review your notes in the first 24hrs after the lecture while it was still fresh (I found it hard to this sometimes though because I worked most days right after class) but if not, that is what the recording is for. Then everyday until the test at least glance through your notes and set some serious time every couple days to reread your notes and make additional notes as necessary. But most importantly...do not cram! It will not work in nursing school because most questions on a test are the application of information and critical thinking not just definitions or factual things.
  7. Anybody know if we have clinicals in a cardiac rehab and/or telemetry unit? My first degree is in exercise science so I would like to get some experience there to see if I want to do that after graduation.
  8. Great question. I have been wondering the same too because I as well have a BS in exercise science and will have my bsn next year. I definitely want to combine the two. What additional certifications would be good to have as well?
