How are you celebrating your acceptance?

The all-important nursing school acceptance letter! Whether it comes by mail, email, or phone call, its always eagerly awaited. Tell us how you learned of your nursing school acceptance and how you celebrated.

I got my acceptance letter on the 31st of March while in Afghanistan. I celebrated by Facebooking my wife and telling my LT and then went back to work lol

I got my call yesterday afternoon. :) I also happened to be really sick at the time with a nasty cold (still am). My advisor called me and I was excited but I don't think I've hit that full potential of excitement yet (I'm going to give it a couple more days). So as of now, no celebrations, but once I get over this cold, I'll probably reward myself with a beach day and drinks with some friends.

Okay as I was typing this out, it did start to hit me a little bit. =D

I received my acceptance yesterday when I got home from my 12 hour shift as a CNA II in Hemoc-Oncology and I haven't stopped grinning from ear to ear! I want to encourage every applicant and student out there to keep on trying! I am a very young 60 embarking on a second career after 30 plus years in corporate America. If I can do this so can you!

Whenever folks of my age are changing careers and are wining thinking its too late in life and they are still not in a stable career, just coz I've read any of such comments in this forum (am a 28 yr male), I wish they would ready your post and realize they have a whole lot of life years (read light years) ahead of them coz if you can have the nerve to do so at 60, why worry and whine at 30, 35 or even 40.

Thank you for being a big motivation for me and others. I've been a CNA for like 5 years, freaked out coz of some back issues at 26 (coz we young males always think we are invisible and can lift residents at any unsafe mechanical position). I can only imagine a 60 yr old as a CNA. Much Kudos from a yung un!!!

Your post is very inspirational! I am in my early 40s and wonder some days if I have lost my mind. I am ready for the classes to start so I can focus on them! :)

Just imagine when you are 60 something, and and you r like, 'oh boy, why was I so worried 20 yrs ago about being so old getting back to school to be a nurse.

I was too exhausted after a night shift, went to check the mail in the morning just before going home. Saw the mail from the University i had applied to and I didn't really care much, because I didn't really think I had a chance even getting accepted -- Coz I had applied late, some of my pre-requisites were at least 7 yrs old (I had started on pursuing Nursing then changed Careers and graduated with a business degree, and after getting frustrated as a business degree holder finding it impossible to get a job), rekindled my initial passion for Nursing and started reapplying.

I said a silent prayer in my car, opened the letter without great hopes, and was really excited to see the words..."Congratulations, on behalf of *** University, I'm glad to inform you..." I didn't even want to read the entire mail. Went home, went to bed and had the best nap I have ever had in my recent years.

My school said acceptance letters would go out AFTER April 15th which is today! But all the nursing students at my school said they heard EARLY in the past, some as early as the last week of March. So........I have been checking the mail box twice a day since (yea I know the mail only runs once a day but I just had to check again : ) We had honors day on Friday and my acceptance letter came Saturday and I GOT IN!! I am soooooooo excited! I have worked so hard for this and at my age (mid 50s) time was running out. Any advice any of you nursing students or RNs want to pass along to this new nursing school student will be most appreciated! My husband and I met our son in Athens where he lives and went out to dinner with him at Outback, one of my favorite restaurants. I enjoyed my prime rib, even ordered an appetizer! A big splurge for us as there hasn't been many nights out since I became a "poor" college student. It was GREAT!! On a funny note, how many people can say their husband's Social Security eligibility notice for early retirement arrived on the same day as their nursing school acceptance letter. He was (almost) as thrilled as I was! LOL

I loved your post! I am a young 57 and I got my acceptance letter into nursing school (my second career) on Saturday! YAY! to both of us! I tell everyone to never give up and it's NEVER too late! All the best to you in nursing school!!

Congrats!!!! I wanted to be a nurse right out of high school and I am telling you now...STICK WITH IT!! I landed a really good job out of high school and had enough money to have my own place, new car, etc. Have not been happy since! Money doesn't equate to happiness! Finally starting my program this fall....
