  1. If you are a travel nurse, do not go to walden university for RN to BSN. I have two classes I have to take to complete my bachelor's degree and they just changed the curriculum where now I have to put in an application far in advance to take a practicum class where you work with a public health nurse on a community health project in the area you live. Its impossible for me to do this as I dont know that far in advance where I will be living. I have to wait until summer now to take these classes, prolonging my degree and I will have to stop travel nursing in order to complete it. Anyone else having this problem?
  2. Right?? You would think somebody would have come up with a decent female urinal by now. I don't think this is a bad idea at all. I hate rolling patients who are in so much pain
  3. Ive heard that. Thankfully, I will work here for about 1-2 years as an RN before we move back. San Diego area. I am also bilingual so I think that will help. Gotta learn medical Spanish though.
  4. I think her first comment about your priorities were not exactly inappropriate. I agree with you, family should always be number one. You shouldn't have to put them second, or lie to your teacher and say that. My husband will always be number one. Nursing school is number 2. With that being said, we have to sacrifice a LOT of time with our family for school. All this time and sacrifice is being spent away from family FOR our family, so family is still number one. So, yes we have to make a lot of sacrifices and spent a lot less time with our family while we focus on school, but that is not necessarily putting your family lower on the priority list. Asking about your religion is COMPLETELY inappropriate. That would bother me. I wouldn't jump to the chain of command and say anything, because that might just make your time in nursing school worse. I would wait it out. If she keeps treating you differently and asking you weird questions about your religion I would confront her. Tell her how you feel and stand up for yourself. If this doesn't work, then it would be time to talk to someone higher up. Good luck with everything!
  5. Hello, I am a nursing student in Florida. My husband is in the air force and we are both originally from California, so after I graduate with my RN and my husband gets out of the air force we are going to be moving back to California where all our family is. My teacher had mentioned that nurses in California had a max of 4 patients per shift. Is this true? I couldn't find anything about it on the internet. Is this only for certain units? Thanks for any info :)
  6. Love this! Thank you :)
  7. Haha I know what you mean. He occasionally will do this for me, but Im sure you know, he gets super bored because he has no idea what Im talking about.
  8. I am almost halfway done with nursing school, and lately it has been a little hard on my husband. He's extremely supportive and understanding, but at times we really struggle. I also work part time as a student nurse tech (awesome opportunity and learning experience!). My husband is in the air force and we recently moved out of state from all our friends and family. I know he gets bored a lot and I think he's lonely. I try really hard to make time for him, but I just feel like it is not enough. I always feel guilty when I am studying for hours and he's just downstairs hanging out by himself Anybody have any tips or advice?
  9. I just got my acceptance letter 2 days ago!! Me and my husband were so excited :) I am celebrating by getting my nails and hair done this weekend :)
