I am going to buy scissors this week and I found some that are prestige medical brand 7 1/2. How can I tell if they are trauma shears since they don't say on the package? I will be working in the ER so I want to make sure I buy the correct scissors the first time.

Trauma shears usually have big plastic handles

They are usually kind of angled a bit at the ends.

ADC makes 'em. The big size fits in my right front pants pocket.

Mine also have serrated blades. They cut through blue jeans. They also cut through brand new Blackberry car chargers when you use them to open the clamshell packaging. Oops.

Make sure they feel sturdy, I've had shears that looked like a duck, but felt like I could bend them.

Thanks Dinah77, just don't expect it every time. I can't account for future hurried posts ;)

If you loan them out and they don't get returned, chances are they WERE trauma shears!!
