How Can I get Experience If...nobody gives me a chance?

Hi, I currently got my CNA certification and I been looking and applying for jobs as CNA.

Its really frustrating that in most places I look or asked to apply for, require at least 1 year experience. :crying2:

well, I just graduated and I have no more experience than the one I got on my Skills at a nursing home. (like 1.5 months)

How in earth I am going to get experience if NO BODY is giving me a change to get it?

Is there any other way to get experience? so I can show on my next application that I have some experience..

Any suggestions will be really appreciated...

Thanks in advance and HAPPY NEW YEAR! to All:anpom:

:tinkbll: hopefully next year I'll have better chance...:lol2:

Same thing happened to me. So I stopped applying at hospitals. I rode my bike to a crappy ass nursing home near my house, asked for an application and walked out with a job offer.

I rode it out for about two years at that heck hole and now work for a major hospital in my area.

Try assisted living, they are more lenient about hiring people with little to no experience.

Yeah most people will say they can not get a job in a hospital until after working at a nursing home at least for a little while. Anyway good luck with whatever you get.

Don't give up. I recently got my CNA cert. too. I must have applied at every hospital within a 30 mile radius from my house. I kept trying and trying... got my cert. in July and start my new job at a LTAC hospital on Monday the 3rd! I couldn't be more excited. I think what helped me is that I did care for a family friend for a few months until she passed. Maybe you could volunteer to help out some one that has an elderly parent and later use that as experience. Also keep in mind hospitals take like 1 and half months from the time you apply and interview to actually start because of all the screening they do. Good luck :redpinkhe
