I'm currently attending Downey Adult School, which I absolutely love! I'm already enrolled in Licensed Vocational Nurse program. It is fully accredited and it only costs $8,995 for the 2011 Winter class, but I'm having trouble coming up with the money. I'm pretty sure financial aide will cover $5,550 because my mom and I make bare bones. I've already paid $2,000 down payment, so I'm covered until I have to file for the 2011-2012 school year. After that is where I'm screwed. I went onto fastweb to see if I can find any scholarships and so far most of them are asking for information on the current college or university I'm attending. Obviously I am not attending either one because it's an adult school. Is it possible for me to apply for the scholar ships that ask for this information? Does attending an adult school disqualify me even though I'm studying for a trade? What are some other options out there for me?

Either contact them and ask, or fill out the applications and put the school information down. They will inform you soon enough if your school does not meet the criteria either way.

I don't understand what you mean by "winter class". Is the $8995 for a semester? A year? Either way, it sounds high. I go to a community college it is $600 a semester.

LPN is 12 months, and she's saying the total cost for the class she's admitted to is $8995, which is not bad for LPN. Per the website, it goes up to $9995 for the May2011 - May212 one-year program. Those schools bill quarterly, I think, or at least that's what they do here. So, I think she is worried about paying for the second half or something.
Can't the school's financial aid adviser help you? Are you short $3445, or just $1445? The school should know of local scholarships that you can apply for. You should also be eligible for a loan, or a loan that your parent(s) can take out.
Scholarships can have any set of requirements, but you should find some that would apply to a LPN program.
http://www.minoritynurse.com/scholarships shows some that are for "enrolled as a full time student at an accredited allied health school" which, to me, would included LPN.

Does your financial aid package consist of student loans? If not, that is an avenue to pursue. If you are tapped out with federal aid, you may have to take out a private loan. Does your state offer nursing scholarships? Does your employer offer tuition reimbursement?
