The board exam for me is ok...except for test 2 and 4. There were a lot of questions about research...all tests 1 to 5 have questions about research. I was focusing too much on CBR, IMR, MMR etc. and not a single question was asked about it...grrrrr and contrary to what people were saying, more than 10 questions about IMCI came out....anyways, i do hope that i will pass the exam
Well we can't really predict what question will be released by the BON but my advice is for those who will take local board in the future, PLEASE start reading now!! As mush as you can.
Don't memorize! just put an idea and a LOTS of question will do. Start from the basic (fundamental of NRG) then the rest. By the way try to review some of the topics which I remebered released last june 2007: Oncology, Burn, IMCI (integrated management of childhood illness), colostomy, O.R. resposibilities, DM, thoracostomy, Cushing, addison,Renal failure, and master your RESEARCH!
:angryfire Oh I should have never read this forum! The agony of waiting just came back to me! Actually I think I failed the NLE. On the second day, I was having a severe vertigo! I thought I wont be able to make it! Actually, I think I didn't review much. Yes I asnwered 4000 questions, read some books. But then, even if I answered the questions from 2000-2005 not to mention practice test from our review centers, almost all of the questions are new. The Emergency nursing, thank you Ms. Subido for that! I really think I didn't make it! I just live it to God! Whatever His plans for all of us, let it be! Continue praying!!!!!

Hey Keep Your Hopes Up! Negativity won't solve anything... Like you said we just have to continue praying... Nobody really knows if we answered right or wrong, we just have to keep the faith... I also found the exam pretty hard But I know in my heart that if GOD wanted me to pass he will let me pass! So just keep on believing there are miracles!

I'm a fresh taker too. Not that hard but also not easy. Like what cheerbear said, its more on Fundamentals of Nursing. The topics as I remember theme were:
1. Research
2. Principles of OR (Test 3)
3. A few IMCI issues contrary to most predictions that IMCI is the new trend
4. Some or few oncology
Very little pathologic and physiologic issues. I recall an endocrine disorder but only 1. I remember only 1 drug from Psych. No herbal meds,
No DOH stuff. IMHO, the principles of OR will assess how well you have been trained in the area.
June 2007 exam makes review centers look useless but take my advice, its good to have one. There are no leaks (to my knowledge), but you'll be able to catch-up with those that your school was not able to teach plus, you'll get updates on new trends too and boost your confidence. Reviewing gives a head-start preparation for international exams.
I wish the results will be out soon. Does anyone know the date of release for fresh takers?
