4510...How bad is it?

Published

Im all set and registered to begin 4510 on 8/26, but Im wondering how bad it is. Im in the process of moving to Phoenix to begin my new job and I know Im already going to be a little stressed just from moving across the country and not sure that I should add school on top of that. Is 4510 really bad? If so, I think I'll just wait to start it until the second session. Im taking it with Prof. Mo--- if that helps any. Oh, and for Business Comm, which Prof. F should I be avoiding? Fl--- or Fi---?

Hi, I might be wrong, but I though you couldn't take OU program if you werent in the surrounding states. Better check with the advisor about your move before you get too far in this program.

Any way, I didn't think 4510 was that bad. Very time consuming, and if you are not used to it, learning APA is a bear.

I did learn a lot in the class overall, and was proud to complete my first OU class with an A.

4510 was a little getting use to as I had been out of school over 30 years and knew nothing about APA. Once you get the hang of that and DB posts it was o.k. It gets easier as you take other classes. I use PERRLA which has helped a great deal with APA format. Good luck with your first class! We were all where you are once upon a time!

I currently live in MI. I checked on the residency before I applied because I've been planning this move for a while now. They told me that once admitted residency doesn't matter anymore. So now I'm free to leave the confines of the Midwest (thank God!!)

APA style was overwhelming to me. Also, I had been out of school for a long time. The class took a tremendous amount of my time. I was not familiar with APA style but overall the class was not bad.

Concerning residency, my stats professor at OU, Prof M., stated he had a student in Florida. :-)

I was just thinking about the last nursing course 4600, there is some kind of a clinical and I thought I read that they could do the clinical piece for only students in surrounding states. But taht was just based on wht I read here.

I believe it's a capstone clinical project not an actual clinical

Soooo, how was 4510? I am starting in fall 3 and trying to get an idea of what I am in for. Is it all APA papers? Midterm or final? If so do you have to go a proctor site?

Hi I suggest, If you have time, that you read some of the other posts about 4510. There is a really long one started by Chuckster. Lots of good info from students experiences buried here.

Yep mostly APA papers and DB posts. No quizzes except a quiz on university policies. if you are not use to doing APA papers I would start learning it now. I got PERRLA which is a program for APA and a godsend! It took me awhile to learn APA as never did it for my associate degree and took a lot to get use to and I had been out of school for 30 years. The TA's do grade pretty rigid on it.

I'm going to start Fall 3 as well and haven't written a paper in 30 years. To say I'm intimidated by this is an understatement! Does anyone know the book that is used for this class so I can start studying up on APA? I plan to buy PEERLA. Anything that is helpful to an old dog learning new tricks will be needed.
