Yep I have an interview with HCA for May 21st. Can someone tell me what the Texas Children’s process was like? I applied to them, did not hear anything for a loooong time, then got a denial email. I was honestly shocked they did not even want to interview me. I have a 3.8 GPA in nursing school, other involvement, shadowing, currently working as a PCA, previous Bachelor’s in biology all while I’m still in my early 20s, fantastic LOR from my profs including a pedi NP. They were my top choice. So I was pretty shocked to not even be considered. ?

I feel ya on that. I feel the same way...it’s discouraging for sure, and I think the tough part is it’s hard not knowing what we could have improved on.

OMG WOW! you have an impressive background! I’m shocked you didn’t even get an interview. I honestly don’t even know what they look for. Are you interviewing with any of the pediatric units for HCA?

I wish I was interviewing for pedi. I applied late, like a week or two ago, and all they had open was an adult tele/med surg interview spot. I also currently work for HCA so I was hoping that would help but I definitely applied too late. I wasn’t considering them until I got a bunch of denials, because their two year commitment scares me

Hey there, just wanted to give you a little insight into what I know. Sounds to me like you have a GREAT application and wherever you get hired will be lucky. TCH gets an enormous amount of applicants and I think for those of us who got interviews, it was helpful to have completed a rotation there/know someone who works there. I really don't think it's anything to do with you or there is anything you could've done better. Some of the most qualified and awesome people I know in my cohort didn't get interviews either.
As far as the process, I was invited to an 'open-house' and afterwards I was invited to interview. I interviewed with unit managers before COVID really hit, but the process has been delayed since. Hope that helps!

Hi there, I applied 2 times for the nurse residency at TCH. The first time I didn’t get selected. I don’t have the best GPA, nor I don’t know anyone. I applied later in the application process and got a denial. The second time I applied I applied the same day the application opens (within an hour). That time I did get called for an interview and got invited for The open house. I believe if you submit your application earlier you will have a better chance then waiting till the end. You can also reach out to the recruiter before hand I found that super helpful. I hope this helps Good luck on your job search you will be an amazing nurse.

This is definitely not the case because I submitted my app the night before it was due at midnight haha. ?
@allievandy You have such a good resume! I am so sorry you didn't get an interview. But yes, TCH really likes people who have some sort of experience with them. From what I have seen they seem like the only hospital who are that way. I have a low GPA but I have a ton of hours volunteering with them and I did an internship with them so thats why I think I got an interview. It seemed like everyone I met had either done clinical or had worked or volunteered there. They are very very all about their culture and values and the advice I was given before interviewing was to "drink the koolaid" and really hype up their mission/ core values/ stats (#1 in cardiology) etc. I think you should def apply again if you are really set on them, it's way easier to get a job after experience too!! You will be an awesome nurse!!?
