Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2020

Updated:   Published

Starting a thread about Houston Nurse Residency programs that open this month/next to start in June/July!

Those seeking employment & have their license should contact HCA! I interviewed on their June Hiring day and received two ICU offers from them which I declined since I’ve already accepted another position. Try to contact the recruiters Roxanne & Dixie

What day did you interview and how long did it take for you to receive your offer after the interview? I interview Thursday! Also congrats! ?

I interviewed on their June hiring day and received my offers recently from them, they were on a hiring freeze for new grads in their critical care units and recently lifted it! I declined so hopefully someone will take my  spot

Any one that’s interviewed with HCA, do you mind sharing a few of the questions that you were asked on interview day please?

Does anyone know if we can work as PCA's if we are already licensed as RN's? I am getting so frustrated and losing hope.

PCA positions don’t require any license, so yes you can do that. They would JUMP to hire you.. an RN to function as a PCA and at PCA pay? That’s a dream to them. I don’t think you will be happy in that role - but if you need the work, you need the work! Who knows, maybe they will even hire you as an RN!

I don’t think they do. I heard that it’s like a conflict with area of scope practice ??‍♀️ I could be wrong

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. That it could be illegal to practice under my license, I'm sure I would be held to the legal scope of a nurse. I just want an open door, I am honestly tired of waiting. I don't necesarily need to work, but I don't want to lose my skills and knowledge sitting here doing nothing. It's been almost 5 months since graduation.

You can work as a PCA. I did with an RN License. They just don’t have you practice under that license.

Right. Have you applied to HCA? I heard they interviewing and hiring for Fall start in October.

I understand your pain. I felt the same way so I started seeking out jobs in other cities. Now I got an offer in Austin! So explore all avenues. I actually graduated in December of last year so I felt so defeated and like I was losing my skills as well but just explore all options and don’t give up!

Yes. I was in the waitlist but never got called. I emailed the recruiter several times and haven't heard back.

Thank you! I wish relocating was an option for me ?
