Houston Nurse Residency: Spring 2023

Hello all! I wanted to start this thread for students graduating in December of 2022. I plan on specializing in either Pediatrics, L&D, or Postpartum! What field do yall plan to go into and where are yall interested in working?  I know that applications for some organizations will be opening up soon. Hopefully with this thread, we can keep each other informed and up to date. So far, I am aware that the Houston Methodist application opens on September 1st, and Memorial Hermann opens on September 11th.

I had an interview with them on Monday, but I haven’t heard anything since then.

I have only gotten an email about doing a shadow shift with the HFICU next week. This was two days ago!

Same! I got an email about doing a shadow shift with them too and no response yet.

Same I interviewed Monday but I got an email yesterday asking to do a shadow shift but I haven’t heard back since then.

They did first round match week this week - I know Northeast, TMC, Children's, and Katy were interviewing from late last week into today. They said if you don't get picked for first choice, you move to your second choice. If that fills up or you don't get selected, they said you can apply for any remaining open positions across the system. I think they end up sending those out via email.

Yeah I figured they were still interviewing up until today. I spoke with someone who’s workday updated to “in offer process” with MH Pearland this week so I was wondering if they had sent any offers out for TMC yet

anyone by any chance know how much hospitals in this area pay nurses after the 1-year residency is over?

Looking to reopen this thread to ask the nurses who accepted nurse residency at Ben Taub...how do you like it? How has it been treating you so far, several months into it now? I just received an offer for the ED and am doing my research and looking for candid information on the culture, the training, etc. Also, does the ED do 8 hour shifts?

Hey! I'm in the ICU and honestly the residency program is great. I'm not too sure how other hospitals run but they really help transition us onto the unit. So we have about 3 weeks of simulation labs and class before getting on the unit. Then there's ongoing conferences for continued learning on best practice. They organized us in groups so I'm in critical care. ER is their own group so I can't speak on their experience, but we see all kinds of crazy things and I've heard working the ER at BT is unmatched experience.

If you guys don't mind me asking how much each hospital  starting pay is for residency
