Houston Nurse Residency Spring 2021

Hello! I created this thread for those graduating in December who are applying to nurse residency programs in Houston for the Spring 2021 start date. Good luck everyone!!

It varies with different specialities! Some start in February and I think some start in March, they’ll let you know

How is everyone studying for NCLEX? If you’ve taken it already what have you found helpful? Hurst? UWorld? I feel so scattered I can’t figure out what to focus on!

Has anyone taken the drug dosage calculation test at ben taub? any tips?

I'm using UWorld. We'll see how that pans out.

As someone who failed in 145 (100% due to anxiety) and who then took it again and passed in 75 questions, My suggestion to you is to never ASSUME you remember the material so you aren't going to study it. You know everything! You just need to refresh. I used UWorld and made a schedule going over peds, MH, MN, adult health and all the systems that went with it. I used ATI notecards (levelupRN) and Mark Klimek (I found notes on his lectures online and the lectures are on Youtube).  UWorld's self assessment is ACCURATE! Nurse Achieve's mock exams are great practice but not as accurate as the self-assessment for me. Nurse Acheive has a free trial. Use that. I wasn't a fan of Hurst so I didn't use it to study. Good Luck!

Hi,

Is anyone going to be starting their nurse residency program at Ben Taub in February? I will be starting in Neuro ICU. I would love to know who will also be starting their residencies at Ben Taub!

Yes I am. I got into the Medsurg unit 6West.

Not yet. You ? 
I received my offer weeks ago, around the first or second week in December and I accepted. But I haven’t heard anything from them since then.

Same I got my offer letter December 3rd. It says it in we will  hear about 30 days before our start date which mine is Feb 22nd so hopefully this week or next
