I'm so upset and really feel that maybe I wasted my time even going to nursing school. I don't want to work at a nursing home or home health. This is just a really sucky and heartbreaking feeling.
Also try Psych hospitals like Cypress Creek. Do you have a BSN or ADN?

Don't lose hope yet. Have you considered applying out of state. I graduated in 2018 and I've only interviewed with Christus and Angels of care pediatric home health in Texas (offered job here already but I told them I can't start immediately). I wouldn't want to work in home health or nursing homes either but I believe the experience can help to get a job in a hospital after 1 year. My sister graduated with ADN and she couldn't get a hospital job immediately. She worked for a home health agency and after about 6 months, she became a supervisor. She was there for about one to one and a half years when she applied and got a job at the methodist TMC med center. She completed her BSN online while she was working with home health. So, I think it's better to do something than wait for too long. When I pre-screened with methodist Sugarland, they asked me why I've been out of school for so long without working. HCA would not even accept an application with graduation date over 9months. So, I don't think they like it if one waits too long. However, working as an RN already will disqualify being eligible for residency programs. Keep praying, I believe God will settle us somewhere.

Maybe try applying at the hospital's outpatient clinics? They will hire new RNs without experience and that is a foot in the door. I'm an LVN and work in nursing homes/SNF/Rehab and cannot get a job as a new RN in the hospital with ten years LVN experience. It took me 6 months to find my first job as an LVN and I started at an outpatient clinic. Keep your head up and don't give up! You will find something. Oh, the option is LTAC, they have more acute care than SNF but for long term patients. Cornerstone, Kindred all do nurse residency for their med surg floors and ICU.
