Houston Nurse Residency Fall 2024

Published

Hi! I'm graduating this August and plan on applying to positions in Houston in women's health and pediatrics. I wanted to create a thread so everyone can stay up to date on applications/interviews for the October 2024 Cohorts. Good luck!

At this point do y'all think it's a bad idea to do home health nursing as a new grad and apply as RN I to a hospital after a year? Just to get that "1 year experience" under the belt.

Has anyone reached out to St. Luke's for an update about when they'll be getting back to us for interviews?

All I've received is the questionnaire to complete. Said interviews would be late June to mid July.

I really didn't want to go into home health but if I don't get into any fall residencies this time around I am def going that route. Graduated in December and it's been so tough out here. Most companies are willing to train and take new grads. This will open doors down the road. My friend has a friend that went into home health and got a job at a hospital 6 months later.

I am currently on this table too, graduated in December and haven't gotten any residency yet, but I've been working in a home health and tbh I'm loving the flexibility. A lot of home health take new grad, so it's not a bad idea to start one.

Yea I also graduated in December and I'm looking at either home health or HCA but I don't wanna regret anything (I've never heard anything positive of HCA). Looks like I'm also waiting until this round before I apply to home health.

Do you mind sharing which company you applied for or do you have any recommendations?

Has anyone received any emails from Harris Health? Any questionnaires?

Harris Health is prioritizing their internal applications and SNAP students first before considering external applications. However, there are more internal applications than opening positions for this cycle according to the recruiter. So, they might not process any external applications.

I had an interview with my first choice at MHTW, received my rejection email today and missed the second round. Application status for MdAnderson shows rejected. Methodist TW shows under review and TMC shows application completed and received but have not heard from either. St. Luke's shoes under review.

Has anyone heard from Houston Methodist West?

I did

can we possibly interview for other units for the Houston Methodist (TMC) besides the two selected? I don't think it was really a fair way to conduct interviews, especially asking what your preferred units in the questionnaire prior to the invite being sent out.

Is the event still being held tomorrow? Also, location-wise, I'm getting two different locations from what was sent in the email to schedule an interview versus the one that was in the confirmation email after scheduling?
