Houston Nurse Residency Fall 2024

Published

Hi! I'm graduating this August and plan on applying to positions in Houston in women's health and pediatrics. I wanted to create a thread so everyone can stay up to date on applications/interviews for the October 2024 Cohorts. Good luck!

How long ago did you hear back?

I applied to northwest at the beginning of May, and I just checked my application and they didn't even email. The application just said not hired 😂

Mine still just says application received. ugh, I guess I'll call and follow up.

I got the invite for interview yesterday.

Okay so maybe they just haven't read mine yet.

Is it a specific date when we will hear back from Methodist & st Luke's?

I don't think there's a specific date, for the Summer St. Luke's and Houston Methodist were the ones that took the longest to send invites

Does anyone know when Texas children's application will open?

I believe Texas Children's is opting out for the Fall 2024 intake, unfortunately.

Why are yall wanting to leave HCA if you don't mind me asking? 😭

Couple of reasons for me: the hospital I got an offer from is far from me (40 minutes), but it was the only one I got and I didn't want to be jobless bc I wasn't sure if I'd even get an offer for the fall. It is also a unit I don't want (it is IMCU, I want Mother/Baby). Also, from talking with classmates and people on a Summer residency thread, HCA is on the lower end of pay (my rate is 31.5, I know someone at $33, but MH is $34 and I believe Houston Methodist is too). This round I'm hoping to get my preferred unit or at least somewhere closer to home.
