Houston Nurse Residency Fall 2024

Published

Hi! I'm graduating this August and plan on applying to positions in Houston in women's health and pediatrics. I wanted to create a thread so everyone can stay up to date on applications/interviews for the October 2024 Cohorts. Good luck!

I would check your Methodist Dashboard just in case, I didn't receive an email yet but got rejected from TMC! My other application still says it's completed and received.

Did it tell you under the status section it was denied?

How do you know you were rejected if your application still says completed and received? Was it a separate application you completed?

Oh sorry if it wasn't clear. I applied to different locations, so my TMC application says "Thank you for your interest in Houston Methodist. Due to the large number of applications for this job, a candidate was selected before your application could be reviewed. We encourage you to apply again to other jobs that match your interests and qualifications." Another application still says "Your application and screening have been completed and received."

oh wow ... So it seems as if Methodist goes in order of who submitted their application first.

That's frustrating. I applied on the first day it opened and mine still says screening completed and received as well. I guess they just did first come-first served.

What unit did you apply to for the TMC location if you don't mind me asking?

Does anyone know the outcome of out of state people who work for 6 months and then just apply as a regular applicant? It's seeming like the residencies are too saturated to have a real chance. I accepted a position in my state, but I was considering letting it go to move. Does anyone know if they hire 6 month experience people realistically?

Specializes in 2 years experience as PCT/Nurse Extern.

No they don't do that at all

I applied to oncology, transplant, and IMU in that order!

Does anyone know when we should hear from Houston Methodist on if we get an interview? Also when we should hear from memorial hermann for match week 2?

Methodist is sending out the pre-screening and invitations will be sent after completing the screening questions. So far I know TMC and Katy locations are working on the screening now, and interview will be on June 20th.

@LoJ please accept the offer from your state first, I graduated since December and im yet to get into any residency programs in Houston cos it's very saturated. Houston is tough now, so if I were you I would take any offer.

Good to know! Thank you. I accepted the position. Worse comes to worst I'll just get my experience here.
