Is there anyone planning to apply for the Fall 2014 ADN program at HCC Coleman??

Yeah! I took this semester & not done yet .

Hey!

Ljchu, r u planning to enroll in HCC for ADN?? If you have more info I'll be more than happy to know :)

Yep I'm applying for the 2014 program!

So, u already submitted ur applications?? Do u know anything more about the selection process for the enrollment??

I will submit my application at the end of March. If you read my previous posts I did mention some criteria that HCC Coleman looks for when selecting students for the nursing program. What kind of questions do you have?

I was just wondering if the drop of class will effect this enrollment selection. I read ur previous post & it is really helpful.

Thanks :)

From what the advisor told me, as long as you have passed your prerequisite classes with a B or above you should be fine. They mostly look at the science classes fist. Other prerequisites classes like english, speech, psych, etc will be looked at second but will not count greatly towards you. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the detail info :) Best of luck to u too :)

I agree with Ljchu; in the information sessions we were told that as long as you passed at the GPA they required, and had the test scores they required , there was no issue. Good luck! I'm completing all of the pre-req's, even the ones that aren't required but suggested, before I apply. Is that what you did?

Yes I completed all of my prerequisite classes plus the recommended classes such as microbiology, AP 2 and etc. The nursing academic advisor told me they give more priority to applicants who have completed prerequisite classes AND recommended classes. They now go by a point system when choosing students for the nursing program. So the more classes you have completed and the higher your GPA and TEAS score are, the more points you will have which means you have a higher chance of getting accepted.

I worried that with the new point system and GPA requirement I won't get in. I have taken all the recommended courses and passed but I received a C in two courses, so my cumulative GPA is just under a 3.0 at 2.97. I guess I will apply anyway and hope I can squeeze in with my current standing. Hoping for the best.

Brisweet,

Don't give up hope! You never know you could have a really good chance still. Good luck!
