Housing near hospitals

Published

Hi,

Is anyone interested in finding a house near Washington Hosp Ctr, Va Med Ctr, Childrens' Hosptl or Howard to share? Any ideas on how I can advertise for room mates at those hospitals? Tired of long commutes in DC traffic....

Thanks

I'm looking for roommates near hospitals as well! I won't be moving until July, though. I've found craigslist to be quite helpful. Definitely worth trying!

Have you looked at the Columbia Heights neighborhood? It's about a mile from the VA/Hospital Center/Children's/Rehab. This neighborhood is within walking distance or a short bike ride of work, and is on the green and yellow lines. Housing here is some of the most affordable I have found in the NW part of the District!! If you advertise on Craigs, you should have no problem finding a roomie, although housing here is a good $400 less than other areas I looked at, so depending how much you are willing to spend you may be able to afford your own place here. Good luck. Feel free to PM me privately if you have any questions.

I am also looking for a roommate close to WHC for july 2010. I havent had luck yet from craigslist but I am just going to keep searching!

Consider coming a few days early to look on CList. CL can be a very difficult way to find housing in DC without being here. Also, beware - there are a lot of scams on this site as well We found several while looking for a place.

Is anyone still looking for a place and/or roommate? I'm not having tons of luck on craigslist looking solo, but there seems to be a lot of reasonable stuff, especially in silver spring, for 2+ bedrooms.

If there is anyone looking for a place near the Washington Hospital Center, Children's Hospital, Va Hospital or Washington Rehabilation Hospital, Howard Univer Hospital........ I have the perfect town home condo just 5 min away from all the hospital for rent. If you come by and visit please e-mail me directly at [email protected]. It is two bedroom in a gated community condo community just right for your needs to all of the hospitals.

My advise.. please stay away from Craiglst. There are to many scams on the website. Try to contact the City Paper or Washington POst for approved ads. The Catholic University has an off campus housing office that will help you with your search and you do not have to be a student. Also, please conact Mr. Victor at [email protected] for his two bedroom condo at Park Place. It very safe and very cloe to all of the hospitals in

near the Washington Hospital Center, Childern;s Hospital and VA Hospital.

I totally disagree about the advise to stay away from Craigslist - Craigslist is pretty much the only place you have any chance of finding something affordable (excepting possibly the offcampus housing through Catholic U someone mentioned, that could also potentially work). Are there scams out there? Absolutely! But most aren't very good. Look, if it's written in all caps, if it sounds way too good to be true, if they want too much up front (ie, a credit report from a non-standard site + app fee, etc), then yeah, steer clear. Especially with people looking for roommates though you can definitely find 'real' people and good deals, I have always had good luck with Craigslist, be it housing, furniture, etc, people are too paranoid generally. It takes a bit of sorting to get through the muck, but those fancy commercial sites and that all you'll really get is large apartment complexes that are pretty pricey.

Just my two cents. You can come live in my building, it's studios/one bedrooms but it's 1099 all included, 2 blocks from the metro and shuttle to the hospital (or bike, takes me 15 minutes), close to grocery, Target, bars, etc. Sadly, even with roommates I haven't heard of people paying less than 900-1000, really really good deals are few and far between unless you have a car and can afford to live in the boonies...

And you are clearly just trying to rent out your own apartment and obviously want people to steer clear of Craigslist. I smell a troll.
