Hourly Pay Rate / Wage for New RNs in Illinois

Published

Hello everyone! I'm a new RN, well, I just passed NCLEX today. :)

If you're from Illinois and know the starting hourly pay for new grad RNs at a specific hospital or other medical facility, could you please post it here along with any other information you may know about it. I would appreciate it so much and I'm sure other new RNs from Illinois would too, such as being union or non-union and/or differentials. Thank you!

Illinois is a big state with big differences in cost of living. What part of Illinois are you talking about? Are you North of I-80 and East of I-39? That's Chicago and Suburbs and very different than South of I-80 and/or West of I-39.

Hi, I'm actually near I-55 and I-290. I'm about 15-20 minutes away from Downtown Chicago. I'm really interested in Advocate hospitals.

Advocate starts at 26/hour.

Thank you for responding schnookimz! Is this for all Advocate hospitals? Do you know if Advocate is union?

Not union and I don't know about all hospitals but it should be accurate for lgh and Condell with minor variation.

Congratulations on passing NCLEX :). Just be aware that it is a tough market for new grad nurses now in Chicagoland . I graduated in May 2012 and I just got a part time job doing home health care. No hospitals will call me back for interviews. I get the same response. Need 1 to 2 years experience. I'm thankful that I at least got this to get started.

Good luck to you :)

Congrats on passing nclex. I see you're from Cicero Il. I grew up in Cicero :) how's the job market for new grads?! I will start my Nursing prog this Jan 14 but seems like no one is finding a job :/

Do you have a BSN or ADN?! Share your experience as a new nurse because I'm freaking out about not finding a job when I graduate

26 plus shift diff for new grads
